I would like my name to be added to the staff list. I taught there in
1964 for two terms and again in 1966. In 1957, as a Townsend school
girl, I also attended Physics classes taught be Sammy Spears. Mr
Messiter-Tooze was headmaster then. The diving team from Townsend used
to practice at the Milton pool on a Saturday morning. From the 3 metre
board we had a grandstand view of the cadets!

I am a follower of your website and would like to commend you on a job
well-done for keeping a record of the history of our beloved school. I
started a Face book page a few years ago it has a few followers.

to the Alumni. I believe as an Old boy, that the Milton Alumni needs to
do more or something to save the Old Elephant. 2000-2001. I will keep in
touch and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Re-discovered all my old "The Miltonian" magazines, so attached are some
of the photos from them which you may want to use. The Milton of 1949
would be a great deal different from the Milton that many knew, as there
were a couple of buildings added during my stay (2 classrooms behind the
Gym next to the Modern block - built by our guys), as well as others
after I left. I believe the quad between the School, Charter House,
Pioneer House and the Dining Hall was built on. What a pity as we used
to play "Horsey" in the mud there during the rainy season?

Great job on the website. I hated Milton school 74-76, but do have BIG
memories of Drippies cane... He was sadistic. My favourite teacher was
Holt in woodwork. Holt had a picture of a ocean liner on the wall, if
you got into trouble, he would ask you which class you preffered,,,, and
boy he gave it to you. The metal work teacher used to always tell us a
story how he flew backwards in a bomber with 1 wing.... great
imagination I guess.... I was in class 3C3... Would love to hear from
anyone who remembers me.... bugs_south_africa@yahoo.com

After leaving Milton I proceeded to the School of Social Work,
University of Zimbabwe and then worked as a Social Welfare Officer in
the Department of Social Welfare and later lectured at the School of
Social Work-University of Zimbabwe until 2003 when I moved to Lesotho. I
am now lecturing social work at the National University of Lesotho in
Roma. I am married with three children - a boy and two girls.

Hey,
This is a real 'blast from the past'!!
There is no excuse for me not realising the old school might have a
website, but I've just found it and what a joy. Here's who I am. (I
wonder if there is anyone still around that remembers me - hope so).
Name: Graham Waters
Address: 64 Ecton Avenue, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1RA, UK.
Age: 71 last month - ouch it still hurts.
Status: Married to Moira for 42 years - 3 kids - 3 grandchildren.
I came to Milton Junior school from Scotland aged 8 and moved to Umtali
in 1950. Stayed there until I came back to Milton High in 1956.
Played first XV in '56, '57 and I think '58. Played first team Waterpolo
in the same years also was in the swimming team, held the 220 yds junior
breaststroke title and swam in the Currie Cup the year it was in
Bulawayo. ( I've got a photo of the '57 team which doesn't appear on the
website).
After NS I joined Dunlop's new plant and in '62 came back to the UK for
training. Never been back to Zim but had a couple of weeks on business
in SA in 2005. Still working as a consultant for a couple of American
engineering companies and represent them on an international trade
association; give the odd presentation in exotic places - all paid for
of course.
Not surprisingly I lost touch with everyone - my fault entirely, pure
laziness. I've looked at the 'Names' section but don't see anyone from
my era. If your out there send me an email.

Having just had my computer updated to ADSL I've discovered the Old
Miltonians website. I was at Milton Senior from 1949 to 1953 and at
Milton Junior prior to that. I am currently living in Onrus (close to
Hermanus) in the Western Cape, South Africa. Besides the page for past
Headmasters on your site, I would also suggest that you have a page for
the past Masters such as "Putt" Jackson, "Jock" Avery, Hambly, "Mac"
Spiers etc. who were there for years. I'm interested in contacting Vic
Bushby, Vicky White and Terence Lawlor
